Additional costs

Additional costs to be paid in the marina upon your arrival may vary depending on the extra services that you have taken (skipper, hostess, cook, spinnaker, outboard engine, towels, WiFi etc.).

One of the additional costs you will definitely have to pay is the tourist tax, amounting to € 1,00 per person per day. You will also have to leave a security deposit for the boat, in amount depending on each boat in particular. The deposit can be given in cash or as a credit card slip. Other additional costs include mooring fees in your cruise destinations.

Please note that all the services in Croatia are paid in Kunas. Sometimes it is possible to pay mooring fees in Euros, but it depends on the marina and should be checked upon in advance. In restaurants, shops and supermarkets you can use credit cards as well, but not everywhere on the islands. However, there are ATM machines in some places.

Bank Transfer

The preferred payment method is directly through bank transfer. It is very quick and completely safe.

Payment procedure

The payment process starts after you have decided to book a certain yacht.

In order to confirm your booking, a down payment amounting to 50% of the total charter fee should be settled upon the reservation. The rest of the charter fee (50%) should be paid at least 30 days prior to boat embarkation. For bookings within 60 days of departure, the total charter fee should be paid.

Fuel

Every chartered vessel is issued with a full fuel tank. It is expected that the vessel is brought back with full fuel tank as well. Ask for information about the position and working time of the nearest gas station before taking off the base. Keep in mind that gas stations are very busy on Fridays afternoon, which is ordinary time to get back to the base.

Luggage

The chartered yachts are equipped with all necessary navigation and safety gear; home and cooking inventory along with bed linen. Extra towels could be required form the charter company so all you need to take is clothing and swimming gear. Choose clothing in line with weather conditions while sun screen and basic medicines are always good to have. Regardless of the charter period it is recommended to take some windproof and weatherproof clothes as well as shoes with non-marking soles, such as sneakers, boat shoes, non marking running sneakers etc. Keep in mind that yachts have very limited storage space so light sport bags and soft sided suitcases are highly recommended rather than large rigid and shock-resistant suitcases. Some agencies provide luggage storage service ashore so check out the availability of such service in advance.

Crew list

Mandatory document aboard any vessel intended for charter is the crew list. This document states the name and registration of the yacht, the charter period, the port of embarkation and disembarkation; name, family name, passport number, place of birth and nationality. In addition, the number of skipper’s license is required for the person in charge of the navigation – the skipper. Crew list is written at the charter agency’s office and registered online at the Port authority and / or Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure. Any change of the crew list during the charter period has to be registered online in the port where the change takes place.

Check out procedure

Check out procedure takes place at the end of charter period. Both charter agency’s staff and skipper (guest) go through the check in list and verify that the yacht has been brought back in correct condition. In case of malfunctions or damage of any instruments, devices, engine or inventory the charter agency requires the damage report from the skipper (guest). The amount for repair or mending is determined by the charter agency and can be paid cash, from the insurance deposit, from skipper’s professional insurance policy or any other way determined by charter agency’s terms and conditions. In case that check-out procedure has been done without remarks about damage or malfunctions, the agency cancels the pre-authorized credit card slip for insurance deposit or pays back cash left at the beginning of the charter period. Keep in mind that the yacht has to be brought back with full fuel tank. Otherwise the charter company would charge the penalty fee. Ask for information about the position and working time of the nearest gas station before you leave the base.

Check in procedure

After the administration procedure is done at the office (paper work) the check in procedure can be done aboard chartered yacht. Charter agency’s staff has to introduce to the skipper (guest) all deck equipment, navigation instruments, electrical circuits, safety gear, the inventory and all other features and devices regarding the yacht’s function. After the introduction is done, both the staff and the guest have to sign the check in list.

Administration procedure

Administration procedure includes paper work that has to be done before embarkation the chartered yacht, in the charter agency’s office at the base marina. The charter agency staff has to introduce to the guests yacht’s documents and the inventory list. Yacht’s documents include the copies of valid yacht’s registration permit, charter concession, insurance policy, radio device certificate and a crew list. The charter agency staff fulfills the crew list form and gets the oline confirmation from the Port authority’s office. In order to correctly fulfill the crew list form guests have to provide their valid identification documents (passports) and a valid skipper permit of the yacht’s master. In case of chartering bareboat, that would be the person who is in charge of navigation. In case of chartering crewed yacht, hired skipper has to provide his professional license. In addition, Croatian Tourist Board charges guests a tourist tax that amounts to approximately € 1,00 per person, per day of their stay aboard. The exact amount of tourist tax is determined each year according to Croatian Tourist Board regulations. The tourist tax has to be paid cash at the charter company’s office.

Gulets and luxury yachts are considered a crewed vessels and crew remuneration is included in the price of charter.

Insurance deposit

All charter vessels have to be insured against any damage caused by accident or fault of the commander. The amount which covers the deductible is usually called the insurance deposit and has to be left at the charter base while checking in. It could be left in cash or by a credit card as preauthorized slip. The amount of insurance deposit depends on the vessel and agency’s terms. Either cash or a slip will be given back to the customer once check-out is done without objections. Certain amount of insurance deposit, or its entire amount could be taken by the agency in case that the boat was not returned in time, if fuel tank was not refilled before check-out, or if some damage on the boat was noticed at the check-out.
