Skipper Advance Apply for program

DATE: 13.03.-20.03.2021.

The course is intended for people who completed our Advanced Sailing Course or who already possess a certain level of knowledge of sailing, for those who wish to become a member of our Yachting in Croatia racing team, and for all those who want to learn more about crewing and racing. This course is also useful for recreational sailors who hire a boat in charter and want to feel confident handling a gennaker and spinnaker without a professional skipper on-board.

This course is an upgrade of previously acquired knowledge. Through this program, attendees will learn how and under what circumstances to – trim sails, work with the spinnaker, spinnaker pole and gennaker. Attendees will learn how to: prepare the sails for sailing depending on wind strength, hoist and lower (douse) the sails, reef the sails and how to flake (fold), pack and properly stow the sails.

From the first day, attendees learn the complete organization on the boat, as well as everyday duties on-board, cleaning, cooking, etc. Over seven days of sailing, we sail as many nautical miles as possible. The aim is to acquire practical knowledge and experience at sea, through repetition and practice.

The emphasis is on:

1. Trimming the sails
2. Spinnaker, gennaker handling
3. To sail faster
4. Shipshape

* The purpose of this program is to train attendants with skills to become a better sail trimmer, so they can join regattas and hire a boat in charter (with gennaker/spinnaker) with full confidence.

• 09:00 a.m. Breakfast on board
• 10:00 a.m. Theoretical lecture
• 11:00 a.m. Practical classes at sea
• 01:00 p.m. Lunch break
• 02:00 p.m. Practical classes at sea
• 05:00 p.m. Arrival in marina
• 07:00 p.m. Dinner

CHECK IN: Saturday from 4 p.m.
CHECK OUT: Friday till 16 p.m.

DURATION: 7 days

ACCOMMODATION: During all seven days the attendees will be situated on the boat - 6 overnight stays.

MEALS

• Breakfast on-board: team prepares breakfast

• Dinners are organized as follows: in local taverns or on-board (team cooks)
